Born in Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture in 1961, artist Rogen Ebihara's career is marked by numerous prestigious achievements. In 1989, he penned the title for Fuji TV's Nihon no Natsu (Summer in Japan). In 1992, his work was presented to Pope John Paul II at the Vatican Palace. He designed the logo for Kirin's Aki-aji (Autumn Flavor) beer in 1994, and in the same year, 20 of his works were acquired by Gora Kadan in Hakone. In 2004, he created the title and artwork for Yo-Yo Ma & Kremerata Baltica's Japan tour, sponsored by ROLEX. In 2006, Gora Kadan acquired another 10 of his pieces. He held a solo exhibition at Nichido Gallery in Paris in 2013, and his works are held by the Embassy of Japan in France. Fuji TV BS broadcasted The World of Rogen Ebihara. In 2014, he created calligraphy for Kuromatsu Shirokiku Junmai Daiginjo Ozu and held an exhibition at Gora Kadan. He had a solo exhibition at Gonza Yanagi Gallery in 2016 and participated in the opening exhibition of White Stone Gallery in Taipei in 2017. In 2018, he exhibited at Nichido in Paris, and his works were acquired by the China International Friendship Association in Beijing. He participated in and created the title calligraphy for the Art Innovation exhibition jointly organized by Kyoto University and the University of London in 2019. In 2020, he collaborated with LEXUS, creating title calligraphy. In 2021, he performed initial calligraphy for the reconstruction tea ceremony of Shibusawa Eiichi's tea house, Mushin-an. In 2025, his digital artwork Fuji will be exhibited at the reception hall of the Osaka Expo. His works are also held by NOBU Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, USA, and Fuji is part of the collection at Gora Kadan in Hakone. The career achievements of avant-garde calligrapher Rogen Ebihara serve as a benchmark for his artistic value. At 65 years old, he is arguably in his prime. His global success, achieved at an age where one might expect a less extensive career, is remarkable. His careful branding by international primary galleries such as Nichido Gallery and White Stone Gallery, along with the significant collection at Gora Kadan, solidifies his reputation. This piece is a monumental work, boasting an impressive scale of 90 x 176 cm. It possesses the power to instantly transform the atmosphere of any space, truly deserving the title of calligraphy that commands a room. The brushstrokes, reminiscent of deep breaths, the tension of the empty space, and the interplay of ink densities create a serene world that purifies the viewer's mind and evokes a sublime presence that guides one to the depths of their spirit. This work is a rare masterpiece in contemporary calligraphy, excelling in international acclaim, size, and presence. It possesses a dignity that can grace museum-quality spaces and brings serenity and dignity to corporate lobbies, hotels, reception areas, tea rooms, and residences alike. We confidently present this monumental work, representing the pinnacle of contemporary calligraphy, or a significant masterpiece on par with those collected by Gora Kadan.
